hi
I'd like to setup some forum as "read only", and to display a message to the user who try to post some message in those forums... is that possible, also using some mod? thank you |

You may set it up as Read Only (Forum Permissions > find forum > select usergroup > Post/Thread Permissions > set those to No. Do this for all usergroups you don't want to post in there. If I user goes and clicks on the New Thread button in the forum, they would get told they have No Permission.

thanks Lynne
is there a way to display a message to all users who browse that forums? this because when a forum is close to messages, there is not any new message or reply buttons, and this can confuse users... |

Do you show the Forum Description at the top of all the forums? If so, you could put that message in there:
HTML Code:
NOTE: This forum is a READ-ONLY forum and CLOSED TO POSTING. |

ok that's fine
but I can't put any link in forum description. I'd like to put a message like "This forum is a READ-ONLY forum and CLOSED TO POSTING, please use THIS forum", with this linked to new forum. or any other way to put a message at the top of any thread... any idea? |
