Dual Installations
Question, I have VB running in two different folders on the same server, each points to its own mysql database. One is a test that I upgraded to 3.7.3. The question I have is, can I point my test installation over to my production database and just rename the folder its in to the production folder and have it work without any issues ? Or do I actually have to upgrade my production folder and database ?

As long as you have a set of correctly-versioned files, and it points to a database that is the same version, it will work.

Thank you. Good point. So if my test installation is 3.7.3 and pointing to a version 5 mysql database I will not be able to point it to my orignal mysql version 4 database ? Correct ? At that point I should backup the orignal and restore it to the test database and just continue using it -sounds like.

I think you mis-understood me. I meant that the database should be same version - as in vBulletin version.

I think I got it right. In my test installation, VB is pointing to a Mysql 5 database. I want to point it to my production Mysql 4 database. I think your saying I cant do that - when I upgraded my test installation it married it the Mysql 5 database so VB is now coded with mysql 5 script., somehow. No big deal I can just backup and restore again to the Mysql5 database. Really the only thing that I can see being a problem is when I change the folder name that VB is running in(to the orignal folder name /forum). I know there is a place in the VB options I need to change under SITE/URL, hopefull that is the only place it is referenced.

No, no, no. Forget about MySQL versions, I am talking about vBulletin. The database schema changes between each vBulletin version - make sure that the database has been upgraded to with the correct vBulletin version.
