Why is it Vbulletin doesnt have a sweet shop add on like IPB???
Seriously if VB had that it would make it 10 times better then IPB. But it doesnt and it makes lead towards IPB. I was wondering if anyone could make one... Like VB has shops but it doesnt have things to buy like IPB does: Quote:

I would agree with you. That is the one downfall that I have. We just started up BushcraftUSA.com, and are looking for the same thing. We do not have many members right now, but have not started advertising either, just folks we know. I am trying to get all of this setup before we start broadcasting.
I have several members that want to open shops of their own through the forum, or vBAdvanced CPMS. Each will be selling something different and we want to create a Merchants group, and each of these members will pay a monthly subscription fee for the use of the store. That way we do not have to disseminate the money, they can each have their own PayPal account. I guess if there is nothing we can get, we will have to get store software to setup on the server itself and link to it. There is so much potential with this software and there are some dedicated coders out there. Someone has to be able to handle this. If no one responds to any of these posts in the next couple of weeks, that decision will be made for me. |

vBCommerce is about to be released.
It is paid by credits. To make it payable by cash, you can get the cash to credits conversion addon. |

Thanks for the info.
I have seen all of these mods where you pay with credits and virtual cash type setups. I really do not understand the reasoning behind this. In the real world, it takes real money. You would think that designers/coders would want to get paid with real money and I am certain that donations are that way (I know they are when I donate for a mod I downloaded). It seems like we are going backwards with this stuff sometimes. Virtual money used to be a big thing, then people grew up, now its back. Also, why would I want to award virtual money to members, for them to virtually buy something, when I have to actually pay for the product to give to them? It sounds like it could be part of the new Obama economic plan. |

You don't necessarily have to give an actual product, you can give a virtual product. Though if you choose to give an actual product, that is what the cash for credit conversion is for, just like sitepoint. Its all how you choose to set it up.

I understand what you are saying, I really do. It is just an aggravation to me.
All of the forums I go to, that are on TLD's, are based on the vBulletin system, and the admins I know all would like to be able to charge their members to setup shop with their captive audiences. If you can get subscriptions in the basic vBulletin software, ported straight to any number of point-of-sale vendors, then it shouldn't be too hard to develop a piece that ties into the middle of that to supply basic store functionality. I say it shouldn't be hard. I am not a coder or designer but I have seen some very impressive mods that look much more complicated than a middleware product. All it needs to do is provide hooks to individual member's paypal, ccbill, etc., accounts (which I know is an expansion of the existing ability); build the store mod with inventory control (add and maintain product item #, description, image, quantity on hand, price, etc), cart functionality and hook to the member's POS account. Then there needs to be a reporting system back to the member that owns the store. I don't know...I am just tired and aggravated from looking for a solution for the past 4 days. My apologies if I am offending anyone. I will see what comes out in the future. |

I think I understand what you are saying. From what I read, vBCommerce, allows to do the stuff you named in your first post and if you buy the correct license, you can do what you just said. All premium members get a free (well not so free since I paid for premium membership, but you get my point), unlimited shops license which allows anyone to make a shop and sell what they want presumably. Though when you are doing cash for credits, you only get the money, so there may be a way to modify or even ask the developer's opinion for that because vBCommerce is only for credits, not cash. Though, if you don't choose that route, you could always pay a coder to create a system for you, but that could get pretty costly.
For my forum, I am going to have actual items and virtual items. It works well because people can pay each other for psd's, tutorials, and resources and stuff and if they get a ton of credits, buy actual items from me. I also have a casino mod that allows people to bet to get more money and I am going to buy the cash to points conversion mod. Hopefully, this will work well. |

For most of us, a credit system is intended for stimulating forum growth. Not too many people are going to pay for points that only buy special features that another forum gives away for free. But the guys at vBCredits are doing a great job at putting together a stable, consistent system that can then be used to handle real world money for those that need it.
You have to understand, there were shops that integrated into vBulletin, but they either stopped being supported they were revealed to have serious security vulnerabilities. The vBCredits guys are going to put together a serious system for replacing these, but they have to make absolutly sure the bugs are out of it if it's in some cases going to be handling people's money. They also have some personal family issues (like starting a new family) that they have to deal with on top of that. But they will get it out. We just have to hang in there, as this type of system can't fall flat out the gate with so much riding on it. |

Does anyone know if VBCredits or VBCommerce will convert back to Paypal so that sellers can transfer their credits back to money?
