Yes, very inspiring and original...but also quite sad that one's website is "their life".

Aaah! again we can't agree on this one, or the last, or the other one

The site says: '20% Done' so I consider that she got the final result on her mind, and maybe is on her plans to post for review... but for what I saw, 'INSPIRING'

p.s. When I post I 'feel' like I'm giving good reasons, DON'T YA FEEL THE SAME???

It's a very cool looking site. Seen it a few times before
I think it showcases how customisable vBulletin is very well.

This is a great site to link to when the next complainer says that vBulletin isn't customisable enough and that all vBulletin boards look the same.

Not "all" but at least 95% of them do.

vBulletin can be extremely customizable, given that you spend the 100+ hours turning all of the style files into something that isn't messy table structure. That's what most peoples complaints are. Not that it's "not customizable" but that it's extremely time consuming to customize, when it really shouldn't be.

it is very complicated to customize your site from within vBulletin if you use the generic full-tabled style. as example, the last site i coded, thcfarmer... the designer knew nothing of vBulletin when he draw the site look... so i had to handle tons of modifications of his style to make it fit the default vBulletin -- because i wanted the site to be very easy to upgrade...

vB 4.0 will be CSS based, like we plan for ages... but again, a lot of people will complaint that CSS is hard to handle... because there is always a ton of people not interested to learn. they want turnkey "custom"..

A CSS based VB huh... that'll be freaking great..lol Customizing isn't as hard as some make it out ot be but it is time consuming like said above. my ultimate design goal for my vb site is for not to look like a forum period... i'm getting there - its just taking some time... the link posted/removed showed a good example of my goal...

"Easy" is a relative term. If you know a little bit about basic HTML, then modifying vB is not that bad. If you know nothing about HTML then it seems impossible. The problem with making it "easy" for those less experience with HTML is that the advanced type editor that they have in mind will actually be less flexible then modifying the raw template code, not to mention those types of editors tend to generate messy html.

Not entirely true, Digital.

I don't mean to sound arrogant, but I would consider myself an expert at html markup, and vBulletin is by no means "easy" if you take time into consideration. Being a markup nazi myself, I hate vBulletins style with a passion. I don't really think I need to go into reasons why, I'll just say two simple words. Nested Tables.

I have made several tableless vB styles, and every time it kicked my ass. Took WAY too long to go in and redo everything. This is the main reason why I have two owned licenses stored away, that will probably never be used again.

vB should have focused on this style for 3.5. Hell, even 3.0. Semantic markup and css is not a difficult task, IE6 is your only problem, and even then it really isn't THAT bad if you take the precautions before hand.

/me ends rant

That's what I mean by "easy" being relative. I'm just siting two perspectives as I believe they would be the most common ones. I personally don't equate difficulty with time-consuming, but I'm sure others, such as yourself, do. My main point is that I feel the vast majority of admins who want vB to be "easier", while using a term that could be considered ambiguous, are really thinking in their heads of an advanced editor like Geocities uses, or the Design View in an HTML editor. The problem being that advanced web based editors are problematic.

And, being personal again, I would like to see something more akin to the latter. Either a free program to vB users or a plugin for Dreamweaver/Web Expression for editing templates.
