bad faq link

in my forum i get a " Invalid FAQ Item specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator"

it is under 'User CP / Edit Options / Thread Display Mode / this help page'

any ideas how to fix?

It works on my 3.7.3 forum. Can you see it in your faq FAQ > Edit FAQ > General Forum Usage > Thread Display Options

if i use the Search Phrase 'Here you can choose the display mode for threads.' for it:

ok, from the above:

i substituted:

with

<a href="faq.php?faq=vb3_board_usage#faq_vb3_thread_display">

and it takes me to the Thread Display Options part of the FAQ, not sure if this is the correct procedure though.

Go see what it says in the template modifyoptions in the are where that help link is called. It should say this (search for "choose_thread_display_mode" in the template):
