HYBRID default view mode for Guests / Unregistered ???

I see in searching there are several threads asking how to make HYBRID (not "just" threaded) mode the DEFAULT view for GUESTS (not logged in). Most seem to have gone unanswered The one I found that did have an answer suggested editing $threadedmode= from 0 to 2 in sessions.php... the trouble is, that post is from 2004 and I am running a later 3.x which does not seem to have any sessions.php! So what the heck do I do? Thanks in advance

AdminCP -> vBulletin Options -> User Registration Options -> Default Registration Options

PS This was added as a standard option in the early 3.0 versions, that is why you won't find any recent threads asking for this.

Hi and thanks for your reply, however, I think I need to clarify. I am not only wanting to have hybrid mode be the default view for new users preferences when they register for an account (my understanding is that is what your instructions will do), but rather, what I mean is, I want hybrid mode to come up as the default view even for UNregistered guests who have no account and are viewing while not logged in. Right now I can only set that to either "threaded" or "linear" in admincp, there is no option apparent to select hybrid as the default for users viewing with no account. The thread I found searching here suggests editing sessions.php or later sessionid.php and changing the value of $threadedmode= from 0 to 2. However in my version I cannot find either such file anywhere... Thanks in advance for any reply

fwiw I am working with version 3.7.0 beta 4 and soon updating to 3.7.2 PL2, if that helps

This setting is used both as default for new registrations and as setting for guests.

Thank you again, well if that is the case, something must be wrong with my setup? I have the admincp configured as you have described above (selected hybrid mode for default of new signups) however, if unregistered viewers arrive, they still only see it in linear mode, so in my case that is not working...

I have done some testing on this and you are correct, guests will never see hybrid/threaded mode. You might want to ask on vB.com for the reason of this as i am not sure.
