This hack extends the existing reputation display system from just the light/dark green pips to green and golden pips, and then a series of bronze, silver and gold stars as the pips limit is reached.
The dark green pips are followed by light green pips, which are then followed by gold pips. When the limit these can display is reached, the (prefix) display of stars begins - starting with the bronze stars, then silver stars and finally gold Stars. If your reputation is zero then the neutral grey pip is displayed. Negative reputations are displayed in a similar manner using light and dark red pips and red stars - however, there is only one star level for negative reputation.
Each time you 'lap' the limit of the pips display, another star is added. The number of each star is limited by an ACP option (by default, 5 bronze = 1 silver, and 5 silver = 1 gold). The number and value of the pips in each group of pips is defined by six settings in the vboptions > reputation options. A line break can be inserted after the stars. The extended display system can be enabled/disabled in the options.
Just follow the install instructions in the zip file to install this product.

My members are starting to hit the Golden stars and they were wondering what happens afterwards... is there any possibility of extending the stars further somehow?
Regarding the need for additional star levels... I think I have a solution. Perhaps everything should be on a "scale". For example, suppose you were to rank all users by how many "rep" points they have.
Those in the bottom 25% (with the lowest rep) would get 0 stars. 25-50 would get bronze, 50-75 would get silver and 75-100 would get gold.
Within those levels, the higher up you were, the more stars you'd have. So if you were like the 49th percentile than you would have a row of maybe 8 bronze stars whereas someone with 26 percentile would only have 1 bronze star.
This way, there is a CEILING of reputation. The top user with the MOST rep will have all gold stars and a "scale" will be built around them... with them being the 100th percentile.
There are a bunch of ways to handle this but I just wanted to share this concept with you. Because, anyone who has a forum with some age will eventually have a ton of people with tons of stars and the novelty will kind of "wear off" - or could at least.
This way, you have an ever changing dynamic system for displaying rep that will never get old regardless of how many rep points any one person achieves. I had thought about installing your mod but I know I will run into the same problem as everyone else... and then if you fix it you have to explain to all your members why their hard earned stars have disappeared!
Also, I'd love to see screen shots in your first post. Other than that really... job well done. I'm just offering some ideas and in no way intend to criticize as I think you've done a beautiful job!
awesome mod, but any chance of an option for cumulative stars, so it shows dark green, light green and yellow as well as the stars? Right now it seems to show dark green and light green and the stars if someone has a lot of rep, and seems to skip the yellow gems.
Can you add counts for negatives as well? I'm not sure what the cause is, but I setup my "ticks" so that they're borderless so that it's a solid bar. It works just peacy for positives, but for negatives the ticks are still spaced out.
