Hey everyone,
I realize that I should be asking this on the vBSEO forums, but we opted to uninstall it rather than renewing because it was weighing too heavily on our server, and we were getting unexplained database errors. The log files on the server showed vBSEO as the culprit. In fact, our host suspended our account until we did something about it. So, after uninstalling that, we then upgraded to 3.7.2P1 from 3.6.9. We were still getting some database errors and I had to revert alot of our templates in order to make some of the features of 3.7 work. We were still getting vBSEO related errors in our error logs, even after uninstalling it. Some research pointed me at the .htaccess file. I renamed it to old.htaccessold. Doing this made my forums extremely fast, but suddenly all of my redirects weren't working. Any click from google or somebody's favorites were getting 404 errors, because apparently this .htaccess file was still doing the redirections. I renamed it again, but was still getting errors and the forums slowed back down. I then tried to analyze the file and make some edits, stupidly didn't back up the file, and now it doesn't work at all. So, does anybody have the code that goes in vBSEO's default .htaccess file? I don't think I changed it when I installed vBSEO 3.0, so technically anybody's file should work... I think. Wow, long post. Sorry... |

If you have questions/problems with a modification or style, then please post in the thread (or support forum/board) about that modification/style. Best chance to receive a reply from either the author or another member using the same modification/style.

Yes, but as I said, we didn't renew our vBSEO license, so I no longer have access to their support forums. I assumed that this would be the most relevant forum for my issue.

Disable the htaccess file and just wait. The URLs will all be different now you have disabled vBSEO so thats why you will still experience 404 errors.
People will need to reset their favourites because the browser stores the URL (which has now changed). You'll have to wait till Google reindexes the site or whatever they do. ![]() |

Even when your license expired they should be able to assist you in removing it correctly. We don't know how a vBSEO file should look like, they do.

I thought you needed a valid license to view threads on their support forums. I'll check it out. Thanks. |
