Hello,

I am very interested in buying a license to start a new forum in my site, but I am very disappointed to find out that many sites who have pirated version are not getting into any kind of trouble.

My site is a competitive site, if we do have a forum option we will be on top. but recently someone I know has added a pirated vb to his site..

it makes me feel like I am wasting my money, if hes not going to buy it ...why should we ?

hes getting all of the features..for free

I have reported his site for piracy, but nothing has happend..and I am 100% sure its fake.

you will never know what's behind the scene of piracy,.... a situation would be that after you reported the site, the owner was asked to purchase a license to make it legal and he had done it, so the site is not closed...

Jelsoft will never tell you if the site is ok or not...

and btw, you wasted your money when you bought vBulletin ---- IF you are unsatisfied by the script.

Jelsoft never discloses what actions they take on sites, it may take a lot longer as I believe Pirate Reports has only a small team working on these, but they handle several companies reports.

They do look into it and get sites with pirated vB shut down. I'm sure it all depends on the server hosts and or countries that the particular site comes from. Most good server hosts have strong rules against pirated stuff a and will delete everything off that users server if contacted by Jelsoft. But non the less yes there are tons of sites that have pirated vB. Hopefully the team that does this handles it because Jelsoft would get a lot more customers if they were strict on the pirated vB sites.

why buy ?

one of the reason i can give is i seen some people beg for skins,hacks on other site .(we the client can get it here with out any problem as long we follow rules )

they install a hack from one of those illegal site and mess the forum sometimes and no one willing to help them.
here you may find most of the time help from author of hacks .

I for one mess my forums every now and then and vbulletin team always help .

and the big plus is not hide your site because using a illegal software is so nice when you can show up your forum with pride .(plus not getting sue)

well i can tell you from experiance (as one of those people who had used a pirated version of vb before ) Jelsoft and Pirate Reports does get sites shut down they did it to mine and game me the option of buying a license or getting prosecuted for violations of the DMCA which well i would have gone to jail for 5 years and had a $100000 USD fine so yeah i opted to buy the $160 license and i have been satisfied since the vb team is awesome and provides expediant support. And the team of VB.org is awesome also.

Jelsoft takes piracy issues very serious and all reports are handled.
