Problem with overlay windows showing up incorrectly...
Hi all,
Our forums seems to have a problem where all the AJAX overlay windows (I hope that's the correct term) like the search function and the quick links are displayed to the bottom-right of where they usually should be. In some cases, this causes them to appear outside of the browser vieweing area so it's a real usability problem. I have personally confirmed this problem in IE 6 and in Opera. It works fine for me in Firefox, but others reported the same problem under that browser. Based on a screenshot comparison I made, it seems that the windows are displayed 192 pixels to the right and 103 pixels down to where they should be. Please see the images below for what the problem looks like. We are running version 3.6.5. Thanks for any help! Tobias |

Are you using a customised style? If so create a New Style with no Parent Style and see if this resolves your issue. If it does then it means you have problems in the customised skin which is affecting the boxes.

Thanks! I just tried it with the default vBulletin 3 style, and the windows show up in the proper location there. Does this already prove the point?

Yes, this is a problem with your custom style. You will need to ask your designer to find and fix the problem.

Something like [minicode] position:relative;[/minicode] or [minicode]position:absolute;[/minicode], in the custom style "Main CSS" might be affecting the boxes. You could try removing them and testing to see if it starts working again.
That is about all the help I can give you, else you will need to contact the author of the style. |
