Reserved first post!
Even I did this on one of my styles release thread, but does anyone really take advantage of reserving the first post and posting updated or seconds versions of their products in these "reserved post" ??
It's just something I've always kind of chuckled about here at the Org What are your thoughts? --------------- Added [DATE]1212464474[/DATE] at [TIME]1212464474[/TIME] --------------- *reserved 1st post* but I think it'll just get merged in these forums..lol |

I think it's useful for those who regularly update their mods and wanted to provide further details (like a change log, etc). In the past, I've been annoyed that I had to search a 50+ page mod thread for updates to very specific problems.
Of course, for those who don't update their mods, it's just blank space, but it wouldn't hurt - T |

I use it for adding additional screenshots but if you dont fire off a reserved message the instant you post your thread then it makes it harder as the first post is taken by someone else while you are attaching your screenies.

I never saw the use of the first post as reserved. If you add screen shots or update the hack, you usually just update the hack post. Maybe I'm missing something but it seems weird to me.

you have a limit of attachments for each posts, and some hacks requires a load of attached screenshots... so having the firstpost just make possible to add even more screenshots..
you are weird too, booho... |

10 attachments, especially if you have a lot of screenshots is not a lot. Take for example USC 2.x. There are 16 screenshots and the zip file. The bigger and more complex the modification is, the more screenshots are needed to explain things - especially if it is a major upgrade from an existing popular modification. Even with the first post reserved, you are limited then to 20 attachments. If you still need more, then you need more posts reserved.
Some modifications also require things like a FAQ which isn't in the main post as it would make it excessively long (remember there are only so many characters you can fit into a post too) and if there are lots of changes made to it then a seperate change log is also often needed. Depending on the modification you might actually need 4 or 5 posts to contain all the information and keep it in a structured format. |

And being weird does have it's advantages. It repels undesirables. |
