Creating "Hello World" Plugin
Sorry for such a dumb question.
I did read the vB manual butdid not find how to make a very simple plugin. Basicallly, I modified a navbar template, manually. I want to covert this manual modification to plugin. What is "hello world" way to do this? Thanks! |

You might want to look in the vBulletin Articles forum for template hooks. You can then use one of the hooks in the navbar to automatically add a link without modifying the navbar template.

Yes, that sounds good, thanks.
So, you are saying that the google search code in the navbar that we manually entered, illustratrated here: http://www.unix.com/forum_index.php Has a nice hook in the exact right place as illustrated? |

That search code is in the navbar template, however I do not see a template hook where you would want to add it. There are template hooks to place something on the right or left of the navigation bar itself though.

So, I guess that means we need to create our own tempate hook.
This kind of brings us back to the original question, what is the easiest "Hello World" way to do this via a plugin? |

The Articles forum is where I would start. Doing a search in there for "template hook" gives me this article - [How-To] Using Plugins for Automatic Template Edits That article also links to a couple of other articles.
