Possible to change file extension of vB-Installation?
Hi,
i wonder if it is possible to change the file extension of vB to someting else, like for instance *.top I already configured my webserver to interpret *top files as PHP and it works perfect. I'm not quite sure whether i only have to rename the files prior to the installation or if further steps are needed. Maybe it's even impossible. Just want to make sure before i blow up everything. Thanks in Advance |

If you can do a custom .php extension, you would need to edit ever single vBulletin file (and any mod) that includes any .php and change it to whatever extension you would need. And this includes templates and would need to be redone after every upgrade.

So an automated Search and Replace for ".php" would not be possible?

I would say it is a tedious task to update after this works.

What possible reason would you have to want to do such a thing ?
