I've tried to search for his but maybe i'm searching for the wrong keywords. I want to make my external.php rss feed to show recent posts, not recent threads. Many thanks.

that wasnt quite what i was looking for but thanks.

I found the answer. All i had to do was add &lastpost=true to the end of the rss feed.
