I have installed VB 3.7 and have been trying to do this import for a while now. The current DB resides on a completely different hosting service and domain. Everytime I got to start import it says my username or password are incorrect. I am using the exact same information on the config.php file in PHPBB2 and putting it into the IMPEX config. The hosting company is DirectNIC that has the source DB. I am able to login in their phpMyAdmin with the user name from the config file and the current PHPBB board is functioning fine. Just wondering if I missed something? Any help would be appreciated.

If the DB is on a different server, you'll have to edit impex to point to the other server.

It would be probably easier to transfer the old database over to the new (current) server first, before attempting to import. What may be causing your issue is that the source server has disable MySQL access for hosts other than localhost.

If the database is stored on an other server, then this server must allow external connections to the database. Otherwise transfer the database to a temporary database on the new server first.
