Can I pass username (via URL etc) from java/jsp application via iframe to login
Can I pass username from java/jsp application via iframe to login a user to vBulletin?
I'm using an <iframe... CompanyName.com/forum/ > to display the CMPS page (or it could just be the vBulletin home page) on my java/jsp application home page. I'm interested in being able to somehow login the user based on the <username> etc info that I may be able to pass through to vBulletin application so that I can show the forum content that the specific user is permitted to see. My users are coming from specific IP addresses since they mostly represent different companies. So I would like to show each user coming in the unique content specific to their company... but I cannot expect them to login to the forums as a secondary step from my java application? Is there a way to pass the username/password via the URL? Or to set a cookie on my parent domain etc that can be read by the <iframe...> included forum. The current domains setup I have is as follows: CompanyName.com/forum hosts the forum software on a website provider's servers. I have my java application running at CompanyName.net/tick/app/Login/Login.jsp and this login.jsp page has the ifram content in order to show the vBulletin forums home page... and my jsp application at this stage knows the user's IP address and based on that IP address, I would like to pass-in a username through the iFrame URL to vBulletin. Any suggestions for how I could do this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

You would have to code a script that specifically logged in a user into vBulletin - without a password. It wouldn't be very secure though. You're much better off passing a token around which you can verify.
