How do we confirm that one is cheating rather than a scoring problem?

thanks

hmmm I dont know if there is a way, I mean sometimes players can find help in games like using tab an enter on games...such as shooting games which gives them a score that others cant beat not using it...but depends if u class that as cheating.

But if there is a way I would be very interested as well

There are several ways to cheat at games, or flash games in specific for sure. I could post some links but I don't know if it's against the rules to do that or not, and certainly wouldn't be helpful to people out there who don't want there users cheating. However it might be worthwhile to investigate what people are doing to see if there is anything you can run or check to see whether they have cheated or not. I mean we can't check something unless we know how they cheated.

A lot of people use additional programs, but in my recent google search on this I found other ways aside from the one I knew of. So there is a bunch and no, I have no idea how to check each method to see who has cheated or not.

Another reason why a no score option is positive, no point to cheat.

one of the best ways to check is if the user has a very short playing time compared to all other players but has the highest score

It would likely be extremely difficult to work out if it was a deliberate cheating attempt. Yes, most such can be determined by if the score is far, far higher than the others (such as that trick involving submitting data from one game to another), but there are also programs that can be used for this, or certain minor exploits which allow for infinitely high scores and then the problem of some arcades allowing the context menu to work for flash games...

Plus, depending on the kind of game, its unfeasible to try and figure out if someone is actually cheating, since most games go on for eternity, and strategy type games like tower defence can be left on auto pilot after a certain point...

Just wanted to see if there was any more input on this subject.

I have a user that I suspect is using Firefox's "Tamper Data" add-on to plump up his scores. Is there any way to catch this?

Is there a possibility of adding a checksum to the postdata, so that somebody messing with the postdata might not be able to correctly modify it?
