Default Allow moderators to view all rep comments

Hi!

As an admin I'm able to view all rep comments left for or made by a user and delete them. Is it possible for me to also give this power to my moderators?

Agh it seems like it's impossible. I've gotta say, I love VB but assigning permissions sucks! It seems to be spread accross a whole bunch of menus + half the stuff you can't let ppl do without making them admins thus giving them access to everything!

Surely after years of updates its time to make a nice permission system where on one screen:
  • You can assign permission to do anything (incl. single moderator and admin functions) to a usergroup.
+ on another screen:
  • You can do the same for an individual.

imo that would be so much more powerful, + is it even that difficult to implement? Anyway, just my 2 cents. Perhaps I'm missing the hidden beauty of the current system.

You can give mods access to view rep comments by giving them "Can Edit User Reputation Comments" in ACP. However they cannot change the points of the rep comment, which leads me onto.....

I entirely agree with you that the VB permission model needs to be looked at, IMHO the logical split would be 2 primary areas

1) Server administration / Setup / Configuration
These are things like creation of new forums, usergroup settings, scheduler, logs, styles, plugins & products. The types of things you setup once and forget about.

2) Day to day site administration
Of course with different permission levels for mods/super mods - but this is all the day to day stuff like changing rep comments/scores*, user banning, user usergroup assignment, full access to change user profiles, full infraction management etc etc etc

* Who in their right mind would give full ACP access to allow a mod to edit a rep score?

I am the only admin on my site, and while I do trust my mods they are generally not technical enough to be given full access to ACP, so when I am away there is alot of stuff that they cannot do.

Exactly, there's a bunch of duties I would love to delegate and my mods are really keen to do them, I just can't assign the permissions

This only seems to let them edit the text of the rep comments, it doesn't allow them to delete them or see if they were + or -.

The reason I am after this feature is because my forum, like many others, has a problem with people circle repping/derepping each other. My moderators have ppl PMing them saying they've been the victim of a rep attack + they want to be able to help, the only person who can investigate it though is me. That's bad in 2 ways:

1. My moderators are more clued up about the social groups on the forum + better able to investigate/give out infractions as appropriate.

2. My time would be better spent improving the website for everybody.

+ yeah, I like your logical permission groups. They have been noted and added to my dream control panel fantasy

It's such a shame too because the rep system is a really good part of vbulletin.

The problems have really cleared up since I've been performing "investigations" into rep foul-play as ppl know if they abuse it they will have their -rep capabilities removed and get an infraction. The only reason it decends into chaos is because it's unsupervised. It's just a shame I'm having to do it, then stay up late to work on site improvements while my moderators are twiddling their thumbs wishing they could help.
