I believe you are pointing to GzN. It is not a modification, but a proxy service to prevent DDoS attacks. You don't need it, if you do, explain.

Getting popups is not a result of a DDoS attack, but rather, a problem with your templates.

Why do you need it? You don't have a problem with DDoS. You have popups which is probably because you put an advertising program's code in your templates.
