How to copy/duplicate a style?
In 3.7 beta 5, I created a child style on the assumption that by doing so, the child would be a copy of the parent, which in my case is heavily modified. I've just discovered this is not so, because after I set my own default choice of style to the child, it appeared to be just a copy of the original unaltered style.
Can anyone explain how to successfully copy a style? |

Export your style xml, and then reimport it with a new name

The imported style, which I renamed inside the XML file to a new name, is often coming up as just the vanilla basic style.

1. visit your site
2. Login into admincp 3. click styles and templates (on the left) 4. Select Download/Upload Style (on the left) 5. First box is a drop down, select your skin you want to duplicate 6. Make sure vBulletin is the product 7. give it a title 8. give it a filename 9. Select either option of all customizations made in the skin, or this skin and parent skins 10. hit download Import New Style 1. From the same screen we were just at. 2. Hit the Browse Button 3. locate the .xml file you just downloaded (the one that was to duplicate the skin) 4. Make sure Create New style 5. Give it no parent style 6. Hit Import button |

OK, I did everything you said and the newly created style is mostly the vanilla basic thing, even though I created it from my more sophisticated style.
I wonder if this is a 3.7 beta 5 bug? |

No clue, i just did it on 3.7b4 and didn't have any issues.
What exactly is changed, and what isn't, can you provide a URL for the forum where we could see what exactly isn't changing? |
