Missing ajax_postpreview.ps file Help Please.

I am getting this error,

[70.xx.xx.xx] File does not exist /home/my_site_server_dir_name/public_html/js/ajax_postpreview.ps

also same with ../404.php.

Our site is crashing like crazy. Can anyone help?

Here's the deal guys.

Our chatbox is malfunctioning like mad. Every other post is a database error. The entire /js directory is missing (3.6.8 patch 2 FYI). People cannot register. Reports of people being banned.

And worse. I found 6 directories (not public_html) that had their permissions set insanely to 777. None of the admins know how this happened?

I'm suspicious. What gives?

The js directory should be in your forums directory unless you are using it for something other than your site. That is why. I see no forums directory in this at all:

/home/my_site_server_dir_name/public_html/js/ajax_postpreview.ps

Yeah, your site is in trouble. I just went there and it told me I'm banned, but I haven't even tried to register or log on.

Have you tried to repair/optimize your database? Have you looked at the error_logs? are you getting any mysql errors emailed to you? Have you looked at your access_logs around the time that the problems started?

Did that. We have a ton of files with "unexpected contents". Don't know what the heck happened. None of us do. Now we have to go through 50+ suspect files (and I don't mean the plug-in ones that give a standard warning) to find code errors? YIKES!!!

We've stabilized it for now. Except the banned part. We gotta fix that ASAP.

Can I get those files from VB and just replace them?

Then perhaps it's there in the forums directory and template code could be pointing to the wrong place?

Most of those appear to be add ons and wouldn't be recognized.

Have you tried downloading the software and reloading that portion of the directory?

This would, of course, be either an add on, or a portion of the software that should be on your site from your provider.

Either that or somebody loaded some bug that attempts to access javascript....

You may want to backup your database and reload a clean version and start installing over....

There is no '/js' directory in standard vBulletin, nor any '*.ps' file.

This must come from a modification you have installed.

We are going to upgrade from 3.6.8. We waited because 3.7 been beta, but at this point we think we'll do better with it. And add-on files that give us issues will just have to be re-installled one by one.
