Hi Everyone. I need some help.
Our organization has grown and I have now found the time to do the proper upgrades. I am currently running vb3.5.4 and I will be upgrading straight to vb3.7.0 beta 5. I have the following questions since I am pretty confused by this stuff. a) Upgrading from 3.5.4 to 3.7.0 is only a matter of running the upgrade.php script in 3.7.0... correct? just follow the instructions, right? b) the current forum resides in its own folder... i.e. "site.org/forum". i want to move the forum to a sister site and have it rest in the top level of the domain.... at "site.com". All I have to do is upload the new files to "site.com" and then run the upgrade.php script and reference the same database right? Am I missing anything? Thanks for any help! |

Yes, just run the upgrade script, but im sure your aware 3.7.0 is BETA and its NOT supported, run it at your own risk.
The folder move is fine, be sure to correct the url settings in the admincp after the change. As for the config file, just make sure you keep a backup for easier refrence as the format is different in 3.6.x & 3.7.x from 3.5.x was. |

super thanks snakes1100! you're the best.
one more question for all you guys... i'd like my vbadvanced home page and the forum to exist in the top level/root of the domain. is there anything wrong with this or should i put the forum into a separate folder? |

Not at all, really; most people drop the forums into a subdirectory because they tend to drop a lot of random crap into the site's root, or because the forums aren't the main focus of their site.
