Not sure what you mean exactly, but every carrier has their own email extension.
For example, with T-Mobile, if you send an email to yourphonenumber@tmomail.net you will receive a text with the contents. |

Not every carrier, I work for T-Mobile in the UK and you need to request the service is turned on - it does not exist as standard.
I've been browsing the net on a mobile phone for 5 years, it's nothing new. And by net I do mean net, and not WAP. My phone is connected to HSDPA most of the time, a 3.6 meg connection comes in handy on the move. I found IM fine on GPRS, and used it for years (there's no Edge in the UK, apart from O2 who installed it just for the iPhone). Back on topic, I have seen a few scripts that offer the service, most are subscription based where you buy your outward SMS in bulk. I haven't seen one integrated with vB though. |

<a href="http://www.clickatell.com" target="_blank">www.clickatell.com</a> provides an SMTP to SMS Gateway. Problem might be sending a mail in the required form to their SMTP Server but they also offer a HTTP Gateway.
Some sample code is somewhere on the net - sorry, lost the URL, with a simple PHP script which works with their HTTP Gateway |
