how do i change the little image next to the web address name to something different many site's o habe seen have put a different image there how is it done please help.

Change the favicon file in your forum root.

To be brief: use a software like PhotoShop or GIMP, create a favicon.ico file of 16x16 (the standard, but other resolutions are supported as well), and overwrite the default one in your vBulletin directory.
