Default need to change the postdate to get it the first post of an thread

more and more times i am facing this issue in our forums.

example:
  1. we start an thread where we request some softwaretesting
  2. we get results + find an other issue which needs its own thread
  3. now i start an new thread for this new issue and move the related posts from the other thread to the new one

the problem now is that my initial post in the new thread becomes the last because of the post-time/date.
but i need my post with instructions to be the first one.

is there any hack around which allows me to change the posttime/date?

thanks!
chris

From what you described, that isn't possible.

From what you described, do have your "display order" set to newest first in your usercp or in that forum?

there is a mod to "un-bump" threads, so it should be possible that a mod simply edits the post-time in the db, or?

this doesnt matter.
the problem is that my post is not the "oldest" and therfore will get "lost" between older posts and newer posts.
  • moved post 1
  • moved post 2
  • moved post 3
  • moved post 4
  • my post which should be first
  • newer post 1
  • newer post 2
  • newer post 3
  • newer post 4
  • etc.

Your talking about merging thread posts, the time stamps are correct and is how its supposed to function.

If you want ot manually edit time stamps of posts for what your wanting, then use phpmyadmin.

i do not want to do that manualy.

thats the whole point of starting this thread here.
to ask if there is a modification which allows me to change the post date, simmilar to the "un-bump thread" mod.
