Really Annoying Problem with Reading Old forum topics about forum reviews...
(and management). And that is that nearly every forum posted that's been posted before the late part of 2007 seems to be shut down from the admins just giving up on the forum or site, regardless of whether it may have actually being doing well! This just annoys me personally.
It's even worse when the boards mentioned are free hosted/being discussed on a free hosted forum since most of those which try (and often fail) to run a free hosted board never seem to realise you don't have to delete the board and everything with it outright just because it's not became the next big board. And there doesn't seem to be much about inactivity in the TOS of their providers... That and the fact the Internet Archive only ever seems to have a 2% chance of having the interesting content archived means that trying to learn from topics more than a month old becomes both incredibly annoying and challenging. |

What's your point?
You want everyone to never shut down a forum again and re-open all their' old forums for you to find the threads you're looking for? Or did I miss something? |

The problem is never the hosting side but the admin side.. if you can't evaluate your hosting needs before it's too late, you are not an attentive admin... your site grow, your needs grow to. if you can't manage that side of the management, that means you may have problem elsewhere that may bring your site to death in a way or the other... this is a market where you have to learn quickly or you die.
