Avatar text
I'd like to add a line to the existing vB text.
Avatars are small graphics that are displayed under your username whenever you post. I'd like to add "Please do not use copyrighted avatars for which you do not have permission, i.e. please don't use scans from labels, or copy trademarked labels." I added the text to 'avatars_small_graphics_short' in the 'text' field of the 'vbphrase' table in the database but that didn't do it. I assume that all of the text is parsed from the database. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I tried searching for answers but didn't get the results I was seeking. |

As a general rule, unless someone from vB specifically tells you, never mess with the database directly.
What you want to do is change the phrase in your AdminCP. Go to AdminCP > Languages & Phrases > Search for Phrase Then search in the text only for the words "Avatars are small graphics". That will give you a set of search results. Edit the applicable phrase there to add the text you want. |

Thank you. I appreciate the advice and the quick response. That answers a lot of my questions.
I found the text I was trying to change through the Admincp > Language and Phrases > Search. The found set reflected the changes I had made in the database field. Once I updated that entry in the Admincp the change appeared in the User CP. I thought the phrases were parsed from the database each time they were called from the script, it looks like that isn't the case but that the new edited phrase is stored in an updated phrase table, or am I completely out to lunch on this? |
