What function does this serve? Request a read receipt for this message.
Does it give any information from the user that clicks ok? I had a new member sign up and he send a pm to everyone telling people about his products and now I am worried emails have been leaked. Any help please Thank you |

All it does is tell the sender that the recipient read the PM and at what time. It doesn't do anything other than that.

That is a relief, how do you stop people from doing this or do you just ban people like this? I did a seven day ban on him because I saw that he was doing it again.

Some sites don't allow users to send PMs until they have been a member for x days or until they have had y amount of posts. If this is just a one time thing, then it might not be worth the effort to do something like that. I mean, it's easy, but sometimes keeping track of different usergroups can be a PITA. Basically what you would do is create new usergroup based on the permissions of the Registered usergroup. All, give permissions to all forums for that new usergroup based on the Registered usergroup. Then, set it so Registered users can't send PMs and then set up a promotion to move Registered users to the new usergroup after x days or y posts (or both) and make sure to allow this new usergroup PM permissions.
