I want to redirect all links that point to a certain site and point them somewhere else instead.
So all links to www.google.com could point to www.google.co.uk instead, for example - and all links to www.google.com/test would point to www.google.co.uk/test. I'd like it to work with old archived posts and also new posts, as they're posted. Is there a mod that can do that? |

This is really a question that should be directed to your hosting company.
There are at least two ways you can do redirects, one is on your host side the other is on your domain registrar side. In your server control panel (not vb control panel) there should be an icon for redirects - it may also be listed under domain management. Just place your redirects there and it should be fine. On the domain registar site (the place you bought your domain name) like godaddy.com you can go into your "name server" manager and put a new name server address in. The Name server address is provided by your hosting company. This will only direct traffic to your new server but will keep the same name. There is also another way but I am not as familiar with it, it is a form of RSS. You can created a new site with an RSS input and point your old site to it and all of your posts should get reposted into the new site, they would all look like they were posted by the same person though so you could put the username to something like "archived post" as to not confuse everyone. |

I should have been clearer - I don't want to change the url of my forum - I want to redirect links that other people have posted on my forum.
So if someone has posted a link to www.aaa.com I want it to point instead to www.222.com. Make sense? |
