This is the way I do it, since instructions are frequently... um... less than clear. And sometimes your style's author was Russian and the instructions aren't in English anyway. (My Russian is very bad, and I read it even worse than I speak it.)
I import the XML file, uploaded from my PC, as a new style. Browsing through the style's folders can usually turn it up pretty quickly, since there's not a lot of XML in a style. Once it's imported, I click the style on the admin panel, and it comes up with all kinds of broken images. (After all, I never uploaded them.) Now I right click one of the missing images and select "properties" from the menu. Under "Address", I can see where this image is supposed to be located. The first half of that location is where I need to upload the style's image folder on my server. The last half is the name of the folder to upload. You can tell where the line is by looking at what's already on your server. Example: if the properties say "http://www.myforum.com/something/otherthing/finalthing/image.gif", just go look at www.myforum.com (don't click that link; I can't make it go away) and find out which of those folders isn't already there. If I have a "something" folder but no "otherthing" in it, I need to upload the "otherthing" folder from the style into the "something" folder on my server. Once I upload that folder, I refresh the window previewing the style, and all the images pop in. Style installed. |
