An extra index page?

After a few search I failed to find this mod. It would be great to have a mod to create an extra index page, like sitepoint forums.

If you visit sitepoints forums, it will take you to this page; this is an overview of the forums rather than the actual forum page which can be found here.

I am wondering if its possible for someone to get a mod like this made. On the overview index page, the latest posts are shown while the forum names are shown on the left side (like sitepoint).

Thanks for that. It isn't exactly what I was looking for. Is there an easier solution rather than installing an entire software? :\. I'm just looking for an additional "overview" index page.
