I am creating a site and want to have it so when you register for the main site, it also registers you for the forums. i contacted vbulletin and was told to come here with my question.
are there any plugins/modifications for this?

Use the user datamanager from vBulletin, there is a guide on how to do this in the Articles section.

This can be useful for big sites who want to keep registering easier.
