This is my forum: http://www.politicsforumpoliticalworld.com/

It has recently been getting slow. I currently have a shared hosting server with Go Daddy.

The forum has been growing fairly consistently. We're not a huge forum. Today we had a lot people on. 25 on at one time, 105 within a 24 hour period. Do I need to upgrade to a dedicated host? Who do you recommend?

How can I change hosts as painlessly as possible? Thank you.

FP

In terms of the best host, what do you guys think of this top ten list: http://www.hostindex.com/voteresults.shtm

#1. Hostway - Having won our #1 spot more times than any other web host, Hostway tops the industry when it comes to business and dedicated hosting! Giving webmasters global Internet strength, Hostway has offices around the world including the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, and Australia to serve both shared and dedicated hosting clients.

#2. Media3 - Media3 provides premium web hosting, plus an easy website builder tool, without a premium on pricing! Their instant around-the-clock phone support surpasses nearly all of its peers and lets website owners sleep easy.

#3. HostMonster - Great for small businesses and individuals, Host Monster delivers cheap hosting, lots of bandwidth and webspace, a free website builder, blog software support and much more.

#4. StartLogic - Affordable web hosting with MySQL and PHP support, StartLogic is a good reliable web host! The company is also one of the most popular dedicated server poviders.

#5. BlueHost - Allowing multiple domains on a single account, BlueHost not only offers a low cost web hosting package but also a free domain name forever for new customers.

#6. IX Web Hosting - One of the cheapest web hosts around, IX Web Hosting offers affordable web hosting packages, in both Linux and Windows, that meet the web hosting needs of both beginner and advanced web hosting buyers.

#7. HostGator - HostGator is great for webmasters and developers who want unlimited website Linux hosting. Low prices and great domain name offers are excellent for resellers.

#8. LunarPages - A great web host, although slightly more expensive than most budget web hosts, LunarPages compensates with bigger website hosting plans, $700 worth of free software, and a free domain name for life.

#9. BlueHost - Allowing multiple domains on a single account, BlueHost not only offers a low cost web hosting package but also a free domain name forever for new customers.

#10. EasyCGI - With the biggest Windows web hosting plan anywhere, 350GB of space and 3,500GB of traffic, the EasyCGI hosting plan is reliable and can be purchased on a monthly basis for $9.95.

Thanks for the suggestions.

More than prices, it also depends on the service and support of the company. Go for a Managed VPS provider which will be helpful for you.

I would not go totally on the advice from toplist sites, they are not always reliable or objective.

Better to research a host on a site like http://www.webhostingtalk.com/ and review feedback from other users.

Toplists are pure BS. Each host deals differently with each client. One client may be happy but another will not be. All depends on the needs of the client. For example, us vb admins want a really fast server with great support.

I suggest you take the $50 VPS Plan from ASmallOrange.com - I have been with them for 2 years now, I love them!!!
