Force users to register to see live links

I'm looking for a mod or a way to make users register to see a download link (live link). However I still want them to see the content of the forum.

if i understand your ? correctly, just set the usergroup "users not logged in (guests)" to not be able to download attachments.

that will spit out the error message about not being a member or not being logged in, you can modify that message and highlight signing up to get to the link etc

They would be more like a live link like http://www.google.com shows up here.
