We are in desperate need of a mod for 3.6.1 that restricts siggies by size. Some of our members siggies are really big and we want to allow different user groups to have different size siggies. By size I mean memory space (75k, 200k ect) not the physical size of the graphics.
Is there any way to do that already or does a mod like that exist?
It already exists in 3.6.x, it's under the usergroup settings. Other than image sizes you can reduce font sizes etc which will in turn reduce memory load. As far as it being "memory" specific, there is nothing in place for that.
It's my understanding that that option only applies if the members are uploading the pictures to our server. Is that correct? So there is no way to limit the file size of images in siggies if they are hosted elsewhere?
That part I am not sure about, it's a good question though. It's under Usergroups > Picture Uploading Permissions > Signature Image Maximum Filesize (bytes). It might be a good idea to test it out and see.
This is what I'm looking for as well, is there anything like this yet? I've seen the hack for the siggie dimensions but I'm looking at restricting the filesize of externally hosted images.
^ No that one is for External Image Size (Width & Height), not for External Image File Size ... I'm also looking for an External Image File Size Limiter for Signatures? Anyone up to make the code for this?
