Having problems..Need help ASAP
I am having a problem with a banned member. He keeps returning and causing problems on the forums. Tracking him down and rebanning him isnt an issue...
The problem is, some how he is getting access into my mod section, which is suppose to be hidden from public view exclusive only to mods on the site. I really dont have an idea how this is possible. I have found out that he happens to know one of the people who help develop some of the vbulletin code. Some how all he needs is registered access to the forums and then he can some how get into our other sections. How can I prevent this from happening? Any settings that I can check, that maybe letting him in? Are there any legal actions I can take? I know where he lives and such for that. Thanks |

Why don't you just ban is IP address?

DO you mean your staff room or your modcp?
If its the modcp, do you have access to your cpanelx? I cant remember the exact details as i cant access mine at tthe moment, but there should be an option for password protected directories. Set a password on your mod and admincp sections. that will prompt an additional pop-up box with a seperate username and password, totally unrelated to the forums, before accessing those areas. If it's the staff room, i can't think of much you can do aside from add a password to that through the admincp, but if he has the access you say he does, then he'll probably be able to crack that too. I assume you've taken the usual steps of trying to ban his e-mail and IP? |

yes, his IP has already been banned along with several others he has used. In the past few days I would say probably about 15-20 new registration names has been banned along with IP addys.
I really dont think he has access to the modcp... but I am unsure... I think if he had access to that area he would be causing more problems. Mostly he is just stirring up problems with members on the site. He is reading our discussions in our staff room, which keeps him up to date with our discipline actions. He is even copy/paste our discussions on the public boards and such... it is really an annoying problem |

shit man, that's not good. Sorry to hear about that. We had something similar on a board i was on the staff of a while ago. In the end we had to set up a free forum elsewhere on which to have our staff lounge until the spammer decided to leave.
If you're a small board that doesnt get many new members you could always turn off new registrations for a while until he gets bored. They all do in the end. |

Have you attempted to set passwords for the private forums?
