Search New Posts Issue

I've tried searching for the answer but I'm not quite sure what text to search for. I'll do my best:

When clicking the New Posts link my members are getting their last post in the results and the posts they've read seem to be showing up. How do I make the New Posts not show your last post and to clear out after reading a particular thread.
