Any one done this? auto - tagging threads for rss feeds

just wondered if anyone had done anything like this before with vBulletin, and if so what methods you used.
or if any one has any suggestions

I am working on an integration project with our forum (powered by vBulletin!) and our sites.
We require a number of rss feeds which will vary depending on the page in the site.

so for example one feed will look for threads containing a unique id, one feed will look for threads containing a location.

at the moment i have set this up so that a new thread can be created from our site (by linking to newthread.php), passing the forum id, our sites unique id, and a location.

these are then suffixed to the actual post content that a user enters, and when the post is submitted will appear in the post.

this works fine, and my rss feeds are producing the correct results.

this also allows forum moderators to tag previous posts (that were not auto tagged) with this information, so they will appear in feeds.

another alternative i have is to create a new field in the post database, and store this tag info in there, then query that field for the rss feed. However this would mean creating another interface for making any amendments to a threads tag data.

has any one ever done anything like this? or have any suggestions?
