I hope this is in the right section...if not, please move it.
Ok this might sound a bit weird, but I'm trying to set up two user selectable styles.. one with censored words (using replacement variables) and one uncensored (no variables). I'm doing this so people can choose if they want censoring or not. This essentially works. If a user types up a message in the quick reply with a *blocked* word...it will be censored with the variables on the censored skin, so it all works. This is good. You can view the word uncensored on one skin, and censored on the other...which is what I want. However, there is a slight issue. If you preview your post on the skin with the replacement variables, it actually changes the word to astricks (which is the replacement variable). So if you preview, the blocked word actually changes to **** in the message box. You can then either re-edit and change the word back without previewing, or post as astricks. But if you actually post it as astricks, the word is really astricks and cannot be uncensored on the uncensored skin. So what I'm asking is..is there a work around for this? If I'm using the skin with the replacement variables, can I preview and NOT have the word actually change in the message box..so if I post the word, it will actually be the word? Because otherwise, people are actually posting astricks, and the words they intended on posting cannot be viewed on the uncensored skin. I had a hard time explaining my issue, so sorry if it's confusing. Anyone?! Help appreciated..or if you know a better method of doing what I want to do please tell me. |
