Do You Request Email Verification or Not?
I have been thinking more and more that I might just skip the whole email verification process because I get emails everyday from people wondering how to verify their emails, or saying they never got the verification email and wanting me to resend it. It is driving me up the wall and I know that it probably leads a couple of people a day to go - "verify my email - stuff that - I can't be bothered."
I figured that I could just make mention of it in our forum's welcoming PM and I could periodically send out Mass PMs to try and encourage people to have their up to date emails. So what do other people opt for? and what are the pros and cons of opting for each method? |

I think it would depend on what your content of the site is.
If the site was software, or any type of site that has simular content ususally have members that have the basic Knowledge of the internet. If you have problems with people joining up and spammming etc. I would go with the email verification. It can be hard using it, some members may only get that far and never verify it. I say it would depend on what kind of site you have. |

Well essentially my site is an online gaming forum, so there are often quite a few young people using the forum.

Surely they shouldn't have problems with a email verification |

I agree with Shazz. That market would certainly understand and probably expect e-mail verification. On thing I've done on my board is add a little comment about not forgetting to check your e-mail for our activate message in our welcome header message. It seems to have helped.
