Please Help ... I am really confused.
I have COPPA disabled, but Moderate New Users switched on and email verification switched on. I do a test registration and the test user receives a validation email. If I click the link It validates me and tells me my account has now been submitted for moderation and that I will be notified by email when that happens. So far so good. Exactly what I want. However, as admin all I get is an email telling me I have a new user. No mention of them needing moderating or a simple way to do so. I click on the link to view the users profile, but then what? If I click 'User Options' I can see that the user is in the user group '(COPPA) Users awaiting Moderation' Using that screen if I change the primary group to Registered User, they can then get access, but they dont recieve any email telling them that. I thought the obvious place for it would be the 'Moderate Users' option on the admincp but if I click on that I get a 'No Matches Found' message. What am I doing wrong? Surely there must be some built in functionaility to deal with this scenario. Any help appreciated ![]() |

I'm dealing with this too...it doesn't show up in ACP-->Moderation-->Moderate Users until the user has confirmed email address...
what bugs me is that I can't set up my moderators to moderate users...at least not that I can find so far. I would have to make them all Admins. Doesn't vBulletin realize that Manual Registration is about the only way left to defend yourself against spammers, trollers, hackers et al? There must be some way to allow moderators to manage manual registrations without having to make them all admins. |

right...thanks David...the Moderate Users function only works for Admin's and there appears to be no way to assign it to Moderators, even though it should fall within their natural jurisdiction. They can ban (in most cases)...they should also be able to approve, delete, or ignore New Users in Manual Registration mode.
This is a perfect opportunity to train moderators to be really good at what they do! With a few well placed hoops in place for New Members to jump through, Moderators can learn to run all the vital checks that should be run to validate legitimate forum users, freeing Admin up to concentrate on things like building bigger and better and more successful forums! For the life of me I cannot imagine why this seems to be so hard to fathom. I don't expect it is an altogether easy task but it cannot possibly be flat-out impossible and the benefit would be significant, bringing vBulletin all kinds of eager new forum enthusiasts! Pull your heads out of the canners boys and smell the roses for a change...your people know what they are talking about. They use these tools every single day. m1thr0s |
