Default Newb Help Much Needed Installing Hacks/Add-On's.

I'm trying to learn to upload and utilize hacks and plug-in's, but am having some issues figuring out exactly where to go and what to do. For example, if the instructions on the hack say,

Quote:
Upload "hack_mod.php" to your admincp folder and "cpnav_rpm.xml" to your includes/xml folder.
where exactly do I go to accomplish this. I know I go to product manager, but there are many options there and under each and I don't want to mess it up.

I'm sure everyone had to learn somewhere so I was hoping a few folks could be kind enough to help me out as well in walking me through it.

I have read the vb.com instructions, but it's not nearly as clear or specific as I'd like it to be and want to make sure I'm doing it right.

Or, if the instructions say to just download and "install as product", want to make sure I'm doing it right.

Either way, if someone can help me out in explaining better then .com can what I need to know and do to utilize many of these hacks I'd be very grateful and woud make a donation of a few bucks to your forum if you need.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Upload 'hack_mod.php' to your admincp folder and 'cpnav_rpm.xml' to your includes/xml folder" means to use an FTP client to FTP the files into the relevant forum subdirectories.

If it asks you to upload something to a folder, you'd need FTP or SSH to upload the files in your vBulletin home folder. For example if your vBulletin resides in public_html folder on the webserver and the file asks you to upload to hack_mod.php, you'd have to upload hack_mod.php in the public_html folder using FTP.

After you finished uploading you can add the XML file as a product in your vBulletin Admin CP using Plugins and Product manager.

Honestly if you are asking questions like this then maybe you shouldnt be installing these hacks.

Those statements refer to files and folders of your vbulletin installation. They will be in www.yourd0main.com or www.yourd0main.com/forum

all the best
