Quote Feature in Text Editor

Group,

I have disabled quoting in my forums by removing and hiding the "Quote" button that automatically quotes ones post or reply and showing who they are quoting.

I still allow my members to quote they just have to do it in the text editor and copy and paste the text in there that they want to quote, thing is though, the quote feature by default is not showing who its quoting.

My question is this...

When clicking on the "Quote" Icon in the text editor, is there a way to change the default quote code of

to this code instead?

(Had to use "php" to show the code so it wouldnt actually quote)

Why do you want to remove the default feature (quote button in post), to only request the same functionality to be added again?

Didnt either of you read it? He wants it more advanced! So it asks who posted the original quote and what the quote was, i think :|

Luky, that is exactly what the default Quote button in a post does.

Please let me explain this a bit better so hopefully all can understand clearer.

I took the auto quote feature in the forums away from my members because they abused it to death by quoting on just about every reply wheather it was needed or not and on top of that they would quote an entire post and never remove the excess text that they are not quoting, so now if they want to use the quote feature they have to work for it to use it by coping and pasting in what text they want to quote. This means that I have REMOVED the "Quote" buttons from the forums and the only way that they can quote something is by using the quote button in the text editor.

But the problem and reason for my original question posted above is that currently when in the text editor, if you click on the quote button it doesnt say what user name the person is it is quoting, it just says

and I want it to say this

hmmmm, Off the top of my head.....have you looked in your misc.php file? Search for the phrase "Quote Tag" and look at the code beneath that.

You will need to create a Custom BB-Code for that. You might find some information on doing that in our Articles forum.
