Is it possible to limit who can pay for a subscription?
I co-run a business group forum, where all the features/forums require a paid membership. We would like to be able to moderate/screen potential new paid members to ensure they meet the requirements before they pay. However, we also require that anyone can register an account, to post in the pre-sales forum. We just want to moderate who is able to access the paid subscription option, so that people cannot pay if they do not meet the requirements (so we don't have to deal with refunding members who do not fit). Is there a way to do this? Preferably an automated way, rather than making interested members have to PM an admin/mod to notify that they are interested in paying. Thank you! |

limit access to your payments to a certain usergroup and then use the promotion system to move users into that usergroup.

Thank you!
Would that work? I thought the promotion system could only be based on things like reputation, or post count, or date joined, or some combination of those. |

if you monitor your members, you can apply them a usergroup when they fill the prerequisite... and you can simply add a little filter on top of the subscription file to enable it only for people having the proper usergroup.. .this can be done in a 2 minutes hack (no need to require a paid job!)
