How to display a Custom Userfield as (part of) a URL
Perhaps the title is self-explanatory: How to display a Custom Userfield as (part of) a URL
My board members can also be club members, but a lot of the board members aren't. the Club members can have a profile on our Club website (not integral with vB) I have set up a private custom profile field for the Club members to put their website profile URL in, and only the usergroup that contains these members has viewing permissions for those. ie the club members can see each other's profile URL but non-members only see the field on the register page (and are kindly requested to leave it alone :-) ) now, the problem is; the URL shows up as text. not as a hyperlink. I think i need to edit the userinfo_customfields template for this, and add a conditional and some < a href = .. > etc. Once this is figured out it's an easy step to predefine the entire URL except for the userID, which would make it possible to allow only 3 or 4 characters in the field. PS the default: website URL field is not OK, this is visible for every user allowed to view the profile, AND because numerous users also have a personal website different from their website profile. |
