Default Moving posts.... to another board.

Im helping a friend setup another board, and i want to move the posts from the old board to the new board... but the problem is that the forums are named differently, and organized differently.... and naturally would have different forum ids.... so how could i move the posts from the old board to the new one.

Is there maybe a way i could move them all into one lounge, and then manually move them from that lounge, to where they belong?

You would need to use impex which will copy over the forums as well as their content and then use the mass moderation tools in the ACP or ModCP to move everything to it's new home and delete the empty forums.

threads and posts belong in forums, so without having them in forums you wont be able to move them.

you could stick them all in one forum, move them, then use inline moderation to sort them out again, but moving them while they are already sorted out is a lot easier method.

I have the same/similar issue and am looking for options.

With our old forums embedded in a site template we're working on replacing, we opted to install brand new forums elsewhere on the same domain. Ideally, we'd move all posts and threads from the old to the new.

....the question being...how.....
