Is supported mod good?

I did not find any info about this, maybe there is and someone can show me, but in the meantime:

How trustfull is the 'supported' mark in mods and addons etc?
When I see that I think it is a save and bugless mod to use (as long as I use same as board 3.6.4 ). But that seems not so true, because I see regulary mods which have still bugs or even put an link on your board from the maker.

Are there rules before a mod gets a 'supported' mark?

Not at all ... "support" equates to the developer supporting the mod - nothing more.

This usually means that the developer will do their best to help others with the mod.
This includes squashing bugs and answering questions that others may have.

It does not mean that it is bug free.
It does not mean that developer will answer all questions. (They do this voluntarily.)

Ah, that is something completly different than. My mistake.
But are there no rules at all. For example, I noticed a new addon which puts an link in your footer from the makers site without telling that in the starttopic.
I can understand that they want credit for their work, but just tell the downloaders that. I sure would not like that, imagine if more coders would want that, how ugly a footer will be...

Usually when someone adds their copyright to the footer, it's only added on the page that has the mod - like a separate stats page for example - or if you download a style, it's the norm to have the copyright of who designed the style in the footer.

That's also what I think when I check the support box on my mods, but that's usually not the case.
