There is a better way to do that, involving a small plugin and a custom field. It's on here somewhere, but I believe it's also actually on vbulletin.com as well for some reason. I have it on my site, users simply selct "top" or "left" styles (a user-friendly way of saying standard or legacy) similar to on here but with both options and a radio button for each.
You alter the plugin depending on which one you want as default. Saves having two styles.

Found it!
It's on vbulletin.com too, even though it uses a small plugin:
The "Forums" tab at the top right is a link back to forumhome (or click on "vbulletin mods" top left).
I'm aware, but that doesn't really help when I instictively hover over the breadcrumb in order to get back to forumhome. I don't see the purpose of removing it at all. Was it done just to try and differentiate from the rest? Either way, it's a bad idea. Just because everyone else is doing something one way, it doesn't mean that you have to change it. It just might be that it works.
I really enjoy the new styles compared to the older styles. I also understand why you would want one just one style for a site. Managing mutable styles is a pain plus managing one style leaves more room to work on other aspects of the site.

Believe it or not - I know what you mean - I have the same problem on the TAZ forums because their Quick Links and New Posts links are not on the right next to the logout, I instinctivly go there and end up on some Zoints or Tags link. Things are not always the same, but people adapt. I don't think the breadcrumbs is likely to be changed.
The worst thing about the new style is that it is way too narrow, giving it a unprofessional feel. If it was set to 90-95% it would be more acceptable.
