Merged threads & possible redirects question.

Hey, hopefully one of you more experienced pros can help me.

So, take this example, we have two posts A and B, and we merge them from A so now the url (forum id) that was B no longer works, and the only way to access the thread is via the url of A. Now, this happens often, and it wouldn't be usually cause problems, but it does when we have sent out url B as part of our weekly newsletter and the link is dead due to a forum admin mergin it with another thread.

So my question is how to merge two posts, and having both original thread urls (ids) work and point to the same place (either A or B), or a new location C.

Or if possible what would be the quick fix to make the original url of B redirect to A. As its very unprofessional to have a newsletter out there with a dead link.
