After I closed a penpals site that was attached to my main website and after a complete site revamp, I've seen my forum traffic dwindle to almost nothing.
The penpals site was a PR6 (PR7 before an earlier revamp). Traffic was also lost from moving articles and closing a PR5 directory which was listed in the ODP. Anyhow, today, I started looking around traffic related sites and noticed that so many people were looking for others to post on their forums, blogs and articles sites and it got me wondering about creating a forum to connect site owners or forum owners with people interested in doing just that. Soo... I'm thinking of PostOnMySite.com that would have categories like: Post in My Forum Post in My Blog Post in mySpace Post in my Articles site Post on Other websites. Each would have subcategories for niche topics like: sports politics entertainment Internet culture thoughts on the idea? |

Are you referring to those pay services, where you basically hire a team to post up and make your site look busy?
IMO, you can't start a community from a bunch of people who don't really care about your site. |

No, I mean more like a free service to target website owners and connect them with people who might be interested in posting on specific topics.
Sometimes, people can't seem to find the right sites to post on and on the other hand, webmasters need a way for users to find their niche websites. |

Somewhere to help webmasters find an audience and help people looking for a forum about X to find a good place? Or hey, even to help people get started building their new community up?
We tried that, but getting off the ground has been slow to non-existent. I thought a smart Digg-rating feature integration would raise a bit of interest but uh...no. |

Hi ForumDog,
When I looked at your forum, all I could see was Dog House which is not usually a good place to be in. I think it might help to follow the title with an apt description - if not people will think it's a place that bad sites go. ![]() I'm going to look around some more. You are wished the best of luck. I just signed up and posted my forum. If people know they can promote their sites, you'll be busy in no time. But, I suggest it's really important to let people know that they can do that. Try something like: "DogHouse - The message board for forums. Promote your Community" Use in your page Title as well. |
